My name is Muhammad Al-Heizan, I am a second year PhD student in Occupational Science at UW- Madison. I received my bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy in June 2013 from King Saud University (Saudi Arabia); In addition, I received my master’s in health and rehabilitation science (with a concentration in occupational therapy) in April 2015 from the University of Pittsburgh. I have had a number of experiences working and conducting research with individuals with autism spectrum disorder. I am interested in exploring the sensory-motor behaviors of individuals with autism and their underlining neural mechanisms and how they affect occupational performance. I have followed Dr. Travers work for a couple of years, and have admired her efforts in answering the lingering questions that remain unanswered in the autism literature. I am looking forward to learning and working in the lab.
