Last week our very own Emily Skaletski was one of two winners of the best student poster at the Occupational Therapy Summit of Scholars conference! The event was held in Columbus, Ohio where she presented her poster titled, “Relations between Quality of Life and Autism Features, Motor Skills, and Daily Living Skills in Autistic Children.” Her project found that autism features only related to caregiver-reported quality of life, while daily living skills only related to self-reported quality of life, and motor skills did not relate to either quality of life report. These findings indicate that self- and caregiver-reported quality of life have different predictors in autistic children, which supports the importance of getting both self- and caregiver-reports in our research.
